Job Responsibility:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to develop your career within the haemoglobinopathy team. We are looking for a highly motivated, patient-focussed Senior Nurse to help establish the emergency bypass project, which will support sickle cell patients from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and served boroughs, across a dispersed population, covering South Yorkshire. This will centralise the trust provision of sickle cell triage and assessment at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Candidates must be able to demonstrate management and leadership skills. Clinical expertise and organisational ability are also vital, together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The main duties of the role are to lead on the mobilisation and delivery of the sickle cell disease Emergency Department bypass project. You will coordinate the initiation of the ED Bypass pilot scheme between Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Leeds Teaching Hospitals in collaboration with the Service Manager, Clinical Lead and Matron. To ensure that resources are available and deployed to provide high standards of service, teaching and research in a patient-centred environment. The role will also determine the impact of the Emergency Department bypass project on patient outcomes, the clinical pathway and patient experience. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 18 months due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project's implementation and the timescales associated with this .
