Reports to: Assistant Patient Service Manager

Accountable to: Patient Service Manager

Part time hours: Monday 1300 - 1830, Tuesday 0745 - 1830 and Friday 1300 - 1830 (Total 22 hours per week)

Pay Starting at £11.54 per hour

Office based role, no remote working.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The role of reception call handler, being the first port of call, is to ensure all incoming calls or face to face appointments are received and responded to in a timely manner.
  • To be able to signpost patients to the appropriate clinician or service.
  • Assisting with E-consults and promoting on-line applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To be able to triage calls, directing clients/patients appropriately to relevant services
  • To have excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in writing (letters and electronically) and verbally with a wide range of providers and users of services, including patients; carers; voluntary; social; primary and secondary care providers
  • To maintain an accurate database of services available to clients/patients
  • To understand, and be able to disseminate, health promotion information, using this to identify clients who might benefit from these services and to signpost accordingly to the Social Prescribing Team.
  • To keep accurate records of all client/patient contacts, using the organisation databases and templates as directed, updating as necessary
  • To understand the importance of confidentiality
  • To respond appropriately in emergency situations

To report any incidents that might compromise health and safety for self, other staff or customers/patients

  • Managing the flow of patients at the desk and in the waiting room
  • Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously
  • Pulling and filing medical records as necessary
  • Ordering hospital transport
  • Any other duties agreed between the employee and The Network

LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT:

To take part in annual appraisal, developing a personal development plan, from which training needs will be identified and training undertaken
