We are seeking a highly motivated individual with teaching skills and a passion and commitment to patient safety and role modelling best practice to work alongside our Manual Handling Tutor in the delivery of educational frameworks in relation to Manual Handling education. The successful candidate will provide support of the Manual Handling Tutor with the design, development and delivery of manual handling education programs and will support and deliver the core skills training framework requirements. Careers at George Eliot - ‘Where you make a difference' The post holder will be responsible as a member of the Practice Education & Development Team for:
  • The development of the Education Centre as an education resource which provides a safe and effective learning environment.
  • The delivery of multi-disciplinary manual handling training and e ducation for learners on placement and other healthcare Trust staff
  • The development and evaluation of manual handling e ducation programs.
  • The development or facilitation of multimedia technology -based education resources relating to manual handling.
  • The development of simulation facilities and sessions relating to manual handling .
  • Research and audit for manual handling education
  • Line management of identified junior staff within the department.

  • To assist with the planning, development, delivery and assessment of manual handling education programs for learners on placement and Trust employees.
  • To set up and maintain equipment for teaching sessions as required.
  • To assist with the update of lesson plans and teaching resources on a yearly basis.
  • To assist with the planning, organisation and scheduling of appropriate simulated clinical assessments for students on placement and clinical staff within the Trust.
  • To possess high levels of developed manipulation and dexterity skills required for educating health care professionals in manual handling techniques
  • To influence patient and clinical safety through delivery of effective education and assessment programs to ensure the safe use of highly complex equipment such as hoists and manual handling aids
  • To continually seek to improve the quality of education through the use of evidence-based
practice, liaising with professional colleagues, reviewing literature and evaluating feedback.
  • To act as a role model exploiting every opportunity to enhance the knowledge of others in issues relating to manual handling a nd to promote health and safety and risk assessment.
  • To act as a mentor to Trust healthcare professionals wishing to further their teaching skills and experience through assisting as faculty members on education programmes run in the education centre.
  • To develop specialist knowledge across a range of procedures related to manual handling education and use this knowledge to relate theory to practice at degree level.
To work towards obtaining relevant manual handling and teaching qualifications to facilitate education delivery To prepare for exposure during clinical situations , to possible contact with bodily fluids, smells, foul linen “, possible exposure to sharps, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety standards at all times.
