Are you considering exploring new research avenues in reshaping the Stroke Services? Our stroke medical team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity to a research driven Specialty Doctor to join the existing base of consultants and doctors on a permanent role. You will require to work cross site at Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Working in collaboration with our specialist team, you will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient stroke services to our local communities such as Hyper-acute care including thrombolysis, acute care and rehabilitation. You will enjoy a high level of autonomy and support from your team, and you will share your specialist expertise while provide a stroke consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the Trust, potentially in other locations. We deliver strong “home grown” research projects and take part of multicentre studies using innovative approaches on pre-hospital and hospital emergency stroke care, and use of point-of-care ultrasound. Our Acute Stroke Centre (ASC) is one of the 19 European Centres within the SECRETO study (Search for Explanation for Cryptogenic Stroke in the Young) network with significant research and clinical impact. The job plan is anticipated to contain 10 programmed activities per week. We are prepared to negotiate any changes on the job plan for the benefit of clinical service delivery and the department as a whole. You will join the on-call 1:4 twilight shifts between 2pm to 10pm covering thrombolysis and referrals, including a 1:4 weekend rota. Supported by a team of 4 stroke consultants and a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for stroke thrombolysis, TIA clinics, inpatient referrals, ward rounds and MDT under consultant supervision as per an internal rota. As part of your professional development, you will participate in current and future research programmes as well as in service developments in line with national targets and locally commissioned improvements. The principal elements of the post will be: To facilitate provision of stroke services to the population of Greater Peterborough & Southwest Lincolnshire in conjunction with the existing Consultants and doctors. It is expected that the post holder will participate fully in future service developments in line with national targets and locally commissioned improvements. To contribute to inpatient stroke service delivery by participation with colleagues in: Hyper-acute care including thrombolysis Acute care Rehabilitation To provide a stroke consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the Trust potentially in other locations e.g., City Care Centre, Early Supported Discharge team. Provide Outpatient care of patients in the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust with stroke and TIA under consultant supervision. To participate actively in both Stroke Service and Trust clinical governance and audit. Undertake continuing medical education. Supervise and train junior medical staff as appropriate. Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as appropriate.
