Job Responsibility:

A rare and exciting opportunity that has arisen, working in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Royal Blackburn site, within the role of Admin and Clerical Support. The Cardiac Cath Lab is located near general office and crosses over into the theatre environment. The department operational days are Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 19:30. The Cardiac Cath Lab is the hub of Cardiology intervention for patients of East Lancashire, providing both elective and acute care. The successful candidate will become part of a dedicated team, their role of Admin and Clerical duties facilitating the clinical team in the care of patients' undergoing invasive cardiac procedures. The successful candidate will be available within key operational hours Monday to Friday and will work 24 hours per week, specific times which suit the service and candidate can be negotiated at interview. Your general duties would include: Liaising with the MDT including the booking team, medical records and the secretaries, note tracking, managing confidential information in line with trust policy, managing stationary, ordering unpacking and moving stores, minute taking and typing, scanning consumables for re order, photo copying, filing and general clerical duties. You will need to be computer literate to use the Trusts many IT systems, a working knowledge of cardiology and the trust EPR systems would be an advantage but not essential. Clerical and administrative qualifications would also be an advantage. We are looking for a good team worker who can also work using their own initiative. You need to have a friendly nature and a calm attitude. You need to be able to communicate with all levels of the multidisciplinary team. Above all you need to be willing to work to high standards to ensure the patients receive the best possible care. JOB SUMMARY Provide clerical support to enable the unit to provide an effective and efficient patient service. DUTIES Assist nursing staff in the reception of patients and relatives to the unit. Assist nursing staff with general duties, i.e. taking prescription to pharmacy, X-ray cards to radiology. Clerical duties associated with the admission, transfer and discharge of patients. Enter patient information on Electronic Patient record. Communicate with patients, visitors and colleagues by telephone, face-to-face or in writing, in furtherance of the effective running of the unit. Ensure the availability of case notes or relevant correspondence from other hospitals. Ensure case notes are efficiently maintained, including: - i) Filing episodic clinical and nursing notes. ii) Filing investigation reports. Request x-rays, pathology reports from the appropriate departments, chase reports and highlight any problems to nursing staff. Make follow-up appointments for patients when necessary liaising with the booking team. Report estate or equipment failure appropriately to the correct department. Notify nurse in charge of action if appropriate. Ensure that you are up to date with all relevant core mandatory and core skills relevant for role and that this training is put into practice to ensure safe personal and effective care. Responsibility for efficient ordering and receipt correlation and filing. Order and maintain levels of stock e.g., stationery, medical supplies, dressings etc. Collect and distribute mail for patients and staff. General office duties e.g., filing photocopying, use of scanning, typing minutes of meetings etc. Other similar duties relevant to role and smooth running of the service.
