Salary Range and Hours: Band C, £26,244 - £29,576 (pro rata) per annum, 37 hours per week

Contract Type: 6 months with the potential to become Permanent

To plan, implement and monitor initiatives that focus on increasing social capacity, improving the health and wellbeing of local communities and enable communities to meet their own needs. To increase, enable and where necessary, deliver opportunities for residents to take part in community wellbeing activities in a resident's local environment.

What you'll be doing…

  • Identify and work with individuals and groups within communities to enable them to develop, create and sustain community based initiatives that address identified needs and promote improved independence, resilience and wellbeing. Provide ongoing support to existing groups.

  • Build strong relationships with key activists within the voluntary sector at both local and district/county level to ensure projects and initiatives support the Council's early help ethos and are engaged with the wider Help Hub.

  • Increase community cohesion by encouraging community leaders to utilise their available resources and develop their ideas in order to bring people together.

  • Build social capital by encouraging volunteering and enabling volunteer coordination and development through the SNAB Community Links group

  • Administer the Council's community grants funds including Member Ward, Go For It, Get It Started and Sports grants.

  • Raise the profile of the Help Hub amongst community groups so that residents can be referred for support at the earliest opportunity. Look to identify existing and develop new community capacity in areas of need identified by the Help Hub.

You must have…

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a community development environment or a relevant qualification in community engagement

  • Ability to complete a satisfactory enhanced DBS check

  • Can demonstrate a capability of working with and within communities to create and sustain initiatives that promote wellbeing and resilience

  • An understanding of working with customers and partners to identify need and shape future delivery.

  • Ability to attract and sustain investment or funding through a variety of sources including through corporate social responsibility to support delivery.

  • Demonstrable experience or clear understanding of recruiting and/or providing support to volunteers

  • Capable of demonstrating an empathetic and considerate manner when working with a target audience.

  • Can demonstrate a capability to investigate and understand community need before formulating a suitable response.

  • Ability to travel extensively within project delivery areas carrying necessary equipment.
