Job Responsibility:

The Recovery College provides opportunities to learn about living well with our mental health and supporting the wellbeing of those around us. Courses are free and available to anyone aged 16+ who feels they would benefit from learning with those who have personal lived experiences and professional expertise of the topic. The College provides both in-reach within LPFT & existing services as well as outreach into community settings. Do you have your own personal experience of mental health challenges? Are you passionate about teaching others, supporting people to learn, (re)discover their potential and build on existing resources? Can you appropriately share your experiences of mental health challenges in a way that helps others with their wellbeing & mental health? The Peer Trainer role is integral to the College & the successful candidate will be able to use an educational approach to support others to learn about mental health & wellbeing. This is a varied & dynamic role and we are looking for someone who thrives on being able to get involved with a variety of different areas of work and take the lead where appropriate. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic & able to work effectively both autonomously & as part of a team. Skilfully use own personal lived experience of mental health challenges to help students learn and make positive, meaningful changes to support their mental health Promote the Recovery College Support people to discuss mental health, raise awareness and reduce stigma Be involved in quality assurance processes and course review Role model personal recovery and work in a recovery focused, strengths based way.
