About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative sector leading SpLD Support Service providing empowering anticipatory support to help student develop study skills strategies. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills as a practitioner in a high quality support service and make a positive difference to students journeys at the university.

Your main duties/ responsibilities will include:

You will be responsible for the design and delivery of high-quality individualised specialist study skills support to a wide range of disabled students across all subject and levels, promoting the development of study skills and technological strategies to encourage self-agency.

  • You will also deliver effective and clear information, advice and guidance, managing complex queries and interactions with a responsive person-centered approach.
  • Effectively communicate key information around the Disabled Students Allowance, support provision, technology and the assessment options available to students at the university.
  • Assess the support needs of disabled students and consider and explain a range of anticipatory and individual reasonable adjustments in response to the students identified needs, strengths and challenges.

About You

As Learning Support Advisor you will have:

  • Experience of designing and delivering a wide range of student focused support activities, including specialist guidance, information and support to disabled students in a Higher or Further Education setting.
  • An understanding of the challenges SpLD students may experience in a Higher Education setting and an awareness of assessing the support needs of disabled including the consideration of anticipatory and individual reasonable adjustments for disabled students.
  • Influence and negotiating skills; able to represent work issues on behalf of the service and develop positive collaborative relationships in the university and sector.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal with sensitive situations, handle conflict constructively and maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to assess, plan and progress work activities, projects and changes within own work area using initiative and judgement.
