We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Veterinary Receptionist / Patient Care Assistant at Albavet Veterinary Surgeons.
Location: Working across our 4 branches; Burntisland, Dalgety Bay, Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy
Contract: 6 Month Fixed Term Contract
Hours: 20 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday between 08.00 - 20.00 with a share in the Weekend rota

About the role:
The Receptionist and Patient Care Assistant roles are the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients.
Some of the PCA duties will include:
- Nursing care to patients
- Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
- Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
- Preparation of emergency and operating facilities
- General cleaning and maintenance duties
- Running internal lab samples
- Answering emergency calls
Some of the Receptionist duties will include:
- Answering phones and booking appointments
- Responding to queries via phone, in person and email
- Registering new clients
- Completing insurance forms
- Dispensing medications
- Taking payments
- And most importantly; providing a warm and welcoming experience to our clients arriving at the practice
What we're looking for in our Veterinary Receptionist / Patient Care Assistant:
- An excellent communicator with strong empathy
- Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
- Previous Receptionist experience is essential, veterinary experience is a plus, but not essential as full training will be given in both reception duties and animal welfare .
- The ability to travel, as you will be required to work at multiple sites
- Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
- A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database management and operating systems
