The Udder Pre School Day Nursery
We are currently recruiting for a Personal Assistant to our Business Manager.
Monday to Friday: 8am until 5pm
All Year Round
This role will involve working partly in the office doing administrative tasks as agreed to support the Business Manager and also within the setting with the children.
It is essential that the candidate is educated to a NVQ Level 3 in Childcare standard or higher as this role involves working directly with the children, being included in child to adult ratios.
You will have strong people skills with an ability to develop excellent working relationships having the ability to adapt to any situation.
A personal affinity with connections to the countryside and all it encompasses will be an advantage introducing the enormous benefits to children from following our belief in the blue sky experiential learning.
You will be a strong team player and have a love of the great outdoors as we are based on a farm and spend as much time outside as possible going out for walks and using our two Forest areas daily.
You will have excellent parent partnership skills with a real passion for delivering excellent services to all the children and families using the nursery.
You will need to have your own Transport as we are based off the A43 and there is no public transport.
Main Duties
1. To liaise with the Business Manager regarding plans and duties
2. To implement the curriculum as set out by the Leadership Team
3. To be responsible for providing a high quality of teaching and learning, ensuring that staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children.
4. To assist with managing the intake capacity for the Nursery by ensuring correct child/staff ratios are maintained at all times and liaising with Business Manager regards availability of places
5. To liaise with and support parents/carers
6. To follow the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure
7. To be aware of any special needs a child may have and to familiarise oneself with relevant play and learning plans.
8. To be involved in out of working hours activities e.g. training, staff meetings, parents evenings, get togethers
9. To be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery e.g. preparation of snacks/meals, cleansing equipment etc.
10. Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role as deemed appropriate by the Manager
11. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is acquired as part of the job.
Specific tasks:
1. To carry out administrative tasks as agreed with the Business Manager
2. Work alongside the Business Manager and staff team to ensure the smooth running of each day and that the nursery's Ethos is fulfilled.
3. To assist the Business Manager with implementing systems of observations and record keeping so that children's progress and achievements are effectively and regularly assessed.
4. Cover Nursery Practitioner absences as required.
5. To liaise with the Supervisors regarding daily numbers, plans and duties
6. To mentor staff that may need assistance in particular areas, i.e transition forms, observations
7. When required, to lead show rounds to potential new parents.
8. Undergo training to ensure the knowledge and skills required to carry out the role are in place. This training should be kept up to date.
9. To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
10. To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communications with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs
11. To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history
12. To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and uphold its standards at all times, both within work hours and outside
