Job Responsibility:
The Neurosciences Directorate includes Neurosurgery, Neurology, Hyper Acute Stroke Neuro-psychotherapy, Neurophysiology, Neuro-Rehabilitation and Stereotactic Radiosurgery. As part of this we have a team of Specialist Nurses within the Neurology Team. This role provides comprehensive and efficient administrative support to the Directorate's Specialist Nursing Team and supports the Service Co-ordinators with ad hoc admin and clerical tasks as requested. 1) Act as a first point of contact for patients & service users, carers & relatives, other healthcare professionals and other, external bodies such as the DVLA and social care services (etc.) 2) Transcribe clinical audio dictations and ensure that this correspondence is appropriately incorporated into the patients' medical record and distributed to intended recipients. 3) Ensure any actions and outcomes outlined in the clinical dictation are reliably enacted. 4) Manage medical records in line with local and national policies, procedures and legislation. 5) Work flexibly to support other secretarial teams according to workload demands and priorities. 6) Provide absence cover for other secretarial and admin teams as required. 7) Manage the database for patients on blood monitoring regimes (role specific). 8) Use the ICE system to access patient records and test results to facilitate the clinical teams' management of patients with active disease. 9) Provide support and resilience to MDT meetings as required (role specific). This might involve preparing the agenda and caseload with the Specialist Nurses, taking minutes and arranging any follow-ups appointments and/or tests. 10) Manage front-facing correspondence such as sending and receiving questionnaires and information leaflets.
