PB Drilling, part of the RSK Group have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Driller to join our team based in Wigan, UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join an IIP company who can provide excellent career development.

The Role:

The role of an Assistant Driller is to assist the driller to mobilise and carry out ground investigations on sites nationwide as instructed by an engineer. The role is site based and will suit someone who likes working outside. The role will also require occasional nights away from home.

Responsibilities:

• Working with project managers and site engineers to ensure field work is delivered safely and efficiently whilst maintaining high quality standards.
• Work on projects anywhere within the UK and near shore/offshore.
• Helping to produce site records including daily drilling logs, pre-start drilling rig checks, risk assessments, vehicle and tachograph records.
• Undertaking ground investigation utilising cable percussion drilling in accordance with the appropriate specification.
• Completing in-situ testing and sampling in accordance with the requirements set out in Eurocode 7 and British Standards.
• Carrying out routine and preventative maintenance, including regular cleaning of rig and vehicle.
• Undertaking other general labouring duties e.g. erecting fences, general reinstatement, light instrument monitoring, delivery of consumables, hand dug inspection pits and collection of samples

Person Specification:

• Full UK Driving Licence with ability/licence to tow.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Live in the Wigan area, or be willing to travel early in the morning if from very slightly further afield - and have your own transport to do so.
• Ability to keep accurate, legible records of work and tests carried out.
• Working away regularly.
• Experience preferred but not essential as full training will be provided
