An exciting opportunity has arisen for a BSc Degree Podiatry apprentice to join the team. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual. The apprentice will be required to provide assessment, treatment and interventions for our high risk caseload within Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. The person will combine working with a range of clinics, hospital and health centres and homes across Torbay and South Devon and undertaking academic study with the University of Plymouth. Ability to travel around the district as a car owner/driver is essential to be able to undertake home visits. The post holder will have clinical responsibility for delivering high quality care to a caseload across the Torbay and South Devon area and will be working closely with other community healthcare workers and provider agencies within a variety of care settings including community clinics, domiciliary work , care homes and contribute to the development of the podiatry team. To be committed to and undertake the BSc podiatry degree. Be responsible for the management and treatment of a caseload of patients across a variety of locations within Torbay and South Devon area, providing a comprehensive assessment of podiatric need, relevant health education, planned podiatric care packages and referral to other health care professionals as required. To provide high standards of treatment and professionalism and to continue to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care To undertake treatments as part of our fee paying service team Why Work With Us The podiatry department consists of 53 team members comprising of Head of Service, Team Leads, Specialist podiatrists, podiatrists, assistant practitioners, clinical support staff . We also have 10 admin staff. We aim to innovatively deliver first class lower limb and foot health preventative care across South Devon. We strive to achieve better outcomes for our patients whilst we also actively promote development opportunities for our staff. To undertake the BSc apprentice podiatry course. You will be responsible for the management and treatment of a caseload of patients across a variety of locations within Torbay and South Devon area, providing a comprehensive assessment of podiatric need, relevant health education, planned podiatric care packages and referral to other health care professionals as required. To ensure effective communication with patients, relatives and carers concerning assessment outcomes, treatment options and prognosis where there may be barriers to understanding due to learning difficulties, illness and high anxiety. Ensure effective communications are maintained and developed with other health and social services professionals and podiatrists in order to promote the podiatry service. Delegate effectively and provide care plans for support staff such as clinical support workers assistant practitioners and students to follow. To review current treatments and treatment plans to ensure they fit with evidence based/ best practice, NICE guidance and national service delivery frameworks. To achieve Registration with Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and degree/diploma in Podiatry and local analgesia administration certificate . To work within the HCPC code of conduct, Trust policies and procedures and adhere to the Patient's Charter. To follow departmental Policies, Procedures and Guidelines but have the discretion to make own clinical diagnosis and decisions within professional boundaries. To be accountable to the Team Leader and assist and undertake duties as delegated and requested by the team leader. To attend all mandatory training sessions as required by the Trust. To ensure clinics are maintained to the highest levels and are suitable environments for treating patients. To participate in Individual Performance Review and personal development planning and fulfil CPD requirements identified through IPR.
