This very busy Oxfam Shop on Magdalen Street is looking for new members to join our friendly Books Team. We are particularly looking for people who would be interested in looking after their own non-fiction book 'department' such as History Books, Politics Books, Diet/Fitness Books, Philosophy Books, TV/Film and Music Books and many more!

This is an energetic and exciting role where you will have the opportunity to volunteer flexibly from 4 hours each week, with more hours are available on request.

What the Role Involves:

  • Sorting incoming donations of books, identifying those which are likely to sell and any that have a (sometimes much higher) value
  • Opportunity to help research the value of rare and/or collectible books online
  • Use shop guidelines to price the books
  • Replenishing books on the shop floor
  • Merchandising donated books to increase sales potential - you can even use your creativity for a window display!
  • There is also the opportunity to take responsibility for a specific section of books, depending on your interests.

Desirable Skills:

  • Have an enthusiasm for reading and a love of books
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills
  • A positive and friendly disposition
