Broseley is a vibrant town in the heart of the 'cradle of the Industrial Revolution' across the River Severn from the iconic Ironbridge. With a rich history as a major centre for coal mining, iron, and earthenware manufacture in the 18th and 19th centuries, Broseley retains plenty of reminders of its role in the early industrial revolution while serving its community of approximately 5,000 residents.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Seasonal Groundsman to join our maintenance team. This position offers the possibility to become permanent based on performance and organisational needs.

Hours: 24 hours per week

Salary: SCP 5 - £24,790 pro rata

Duration: Initial seasonal contract with potential for permanent position

Key Responsibilities

* Grave digging and cemetery maintenance

* Weeding, path edging, and general grounds upkeep

* Strimming and mowing of council-maintained areas

* Watering and maintaining the town's seasonal floral displays

* Working both independently and as part of our established team

* Interacting with members of the public in a courteous and sympathetic manner, particularly those tending graves of relatives

Person Specification

Essential:

* Physical fitness and ability to perform outdoor manual work in various weather conditions

* Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic

* Respectful attitude and sensitivity when working in cemetery areas

* Ability to follow health and safety procedures

* Willingness to learn new skills and complete necessary training

* Full UK driving license

* Previous experience in grounds maintenance or similar role

* Knowledge of using garden machinery including mowers and strimmers

Desirable

* Basic horticultural knowledge

* relevant training
